On November 16, the picturesque Veslaški Klub in Piran hosted the kick-off meeting for the KeYs project, gathering participants from Slovenia, Italy, and Croatia. This collaborative event marked the start of a promising initiative co-funded by the European Union.
The day began with a warm welcome speech by Marko Bolha, setting a collegial tone for the meeting. Participants introduced themselves, fostering a sense of community among team members. The session focused on key aspects of project organization, with discussions on the logo, branding, and adherence to EU values like inclusion, sustainability, and digital transformation.
A significant highlight was the formation of three committees—steering, technical, and social—each involving members from all partner organizations to ensure cohesive progress. The budget structure and reporting mechanisms were also clarified, with practical insights into using Google Drive for documentation and resource sharing.
Creative ideas for promoting rowing among youth, including school programs and mixed regattas, were explored. Blaž Kopič’s presentation on injury prevention and advanced training methods added valuable expertise, emphasizing strength, mobility, and plyometric exercises tailored to athletes’ needs.
The meeting also emphasized risk management, effective communication strategies, and the integration of digital tools like slow-motion video analysis for coaches. Plans for summer and winter team-building activities further showcased the project’s commitment to fostering collaboration.
The kick-off concluded with a shared vision of making the KeYs project a benchmark in rowing and sports education, driven by innovation and teamwork. Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this exciting journey!
